Why you should plan your days!

You might know this feeling: It’s 10o’clock at night and you already start getting anxious for your following day. You know you have a lot of responsibilities and tasks waiting on you, but don’t know when you will even have the time to complete them.

This is most likely because you are missing one crucial thing: a good planning.

Planning, and time-management for that matter, is one of the most important aspects of being productive in your day-to-day life. It sounds so silly right; one simple thing will solve your problems?

But it is true, I take every Sunday night from 6-8PM to go over my upcoming week and I plan everything into my day, from going to the gym, to having lunch, to doing my morning routine. I make this small investment of time, so I can gain a sense of control over my daily life.

We live in a world that has become so oversaturated with “noise” from all the digital devices that are surrounding us that we lose track of the actual life we are trying to live. It all comes down to accountability, because nobody will hold you accountable when you skip the gym once, only you can do that. And by creating a daily planning it will become infinitely easier for yourself to stick to this plan that you yourself created.

So, if you want to start gaining control over your life again, do the following:

  1. Block out 2 hours in your week, preferably in the weekend, to plan.
  2. During these 2 hours write down on paper what you need & want to do for every day.
  3. Then separate every hour of your awake hours and fill in per hour what you will be doing, make sure to keep some lenience in your expectations. We often take more time for a task than we anticipate!
  4. Now you have your week planned on paper, I then put everything into Google Calendar so I also have a digital version. You can do this as well with any online calendar app if you’d like.
  5. Repeat weekly.

And there you have it, your life just got a whole lot easier!
